How to Use

Resize your recipe in a few simple steps.

  1. Paste your ingredients. Put one ingredient on each line, starting with its quantity, such as “1 cup milk” or “1 1/2 cups flour.” You can add a recipe name, too.
  2. Choose a size. Select Half, Third, Quarter, Double, or Triple. For a custom amount, choose Servings and enter the original and desired serving counts.
  3. Click Convert my recipe. Compare the original and converted quantities side by side. After changing the ingredients or size, click Convert again to refresh the results.
  4. Copy or print. Copy recipe puts the converted ingredients on your clipboard. Print recipe opens your browser’s print options.

A quick example

To halve a recipe containing 2 cups flour, 1 cup milk, and 2 eggs, choose Half. The results are 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup milk, and 1 egg.

What the converter understands

Use numbers, decimals, or fractions such as 0.5, 1/2, ½, and 1 1/2. Quantity ranges such as 1–2 teaspoons can also be scaled. Lines without a recognized starting quantity stay unchanged and are flagged for review.

Common cup fractions stay in cups. Some smaller cup amounts are shown in tablespoons. The converter scales quantities; it does not convert grams to cups or determine an ingredient’s weight.

Before you cook

Review every result against your original recipe. Package sizes and quantities inside parentheses are not automatically adjusted. “Salt to taste” stays unchanged. For part of an egg, beat the egg first and measure the portion you need.

Cooking time, temperature, pan size, and cooking instructions are not automatically adjusted. Larger batches may need separate pans. This tool does not check allergens or make gluten-free substitutions.
